Board of Directors
David Keiser, Director ~ represents his church, David Evangelical Lutheran Church, and has served the Board as a Trustee for three years before being elected as Director in 2010. Since retiring from Lucent Technology, David fills his days working part time, fishing and volunteering with the Canal Winchester School District. He and his wife, Pat, are proud grandparents to four grandchildren.
Janine Taylor, Assistant Director ~ serves as Assistant Director representing David’s United Church of Christ where she is actively involved on several committees. Employed by the Canal Winchester School District as Director of Curriculum, Janine and her husband, Larry, have one daughter.
Jo Weiser, Trustee ~ has been an active member of the Board of Directors since being one of the original co-founders of the organization back in 1955. She serves Human Services representing the Women’s Aux. of the VFW. She and her husband, Dick, are active residents of Canal Winchester and have been married more than 60 years.
John Bender, Trustee ~ serves the Board representing the Village of Canal Winchester where he is a Village Councilman. He is employed by the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio as a School Court Liaison. John is coach of the boys and girls cross country teams and girls track coach at Canal Winchester High School. He and his wife, Joan, have four children and five grandchildren.
Kim Miller-Smith, Trustee ~ has served the Board as a Trustee since 2008. She represents the Canal Winchester School District where she is employed as Superintendent. She and her husband, Mike, have three children.
Connie Ray, Trustee ~ is a Trustee representing the Canal Winchester Food Pantry where she actively volunteers. She is a pharmacist with Pickerington Pharmacy and is very involved with mission work in Haiti. She and her husband, Bill, have four grandchildren.
Jackie Marion, trustee - was appointed to the Board as a trustee in fall, 2010. Currently Jackie works with her husband, David, at Buckeye Honda. In addition to Human Services, she is the Volunteer Coordinator for Flying Horse Farms, a camp for critically ill children, and she is very active at Hope United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Jackie loves to read, is an avid gardener. and she and David are proud parents to two beagles, Nellie and Gracie Allen.
Tom Helber, Treasurer ~ has been Treasurer since 2007, representing Faith United Methodist Church. Retired from Huntington National Bank, Tom volunteers in several capacities within his church, as well as the Food Pantry. He and his wife, Marti, have one grandchild.
Teresa Gore, Secretary ~ serves as Secretary, representing the New Life Community Church. She has also worked part time for Human Services since 2009. She and her husband, Jeff, live in the Village.
Lisa Zurbriggen, food pantry Coordinator - Lisa graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Visual Communications. She is married to Butch Zurbriggen and has lived in Canal Winchester for 17 years. Butch and Lisa have three children; Austin, Ashton and Hope. The Zurbriggen family owns and runs Butch's Italian Cafe. Lisa has been the coordinator for the Food Pantry since March, 2011 and finds the work very rewarding. Her hobbies include custom cake decorating which has become a little business for her. Lisa also enjoys cheering on her kids in all their sports and activities, reading and being an active member of David's United Church of Christ.
Administrative Coordinator
Since 2005, Penny Miller has served Canal Winchester Human Services as the Administrative Coordinator. In addition to overseeing the daily operation of the various programs of Human Services, she also seeks appropriate funding to support the efforts of this organization while working to not only improve and expand current services, but also implement new programs as appropriate and possible. She and her husband, Chuck, are active members of the Canal Winchester community and proud parents of three grown children.

Being a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization, Canal Winchester Human Services relies on the generosity of various donors and collaborators. Though private donations are very important to our success, we would not be able to administer our current programs without the substantial contributions we receive through grants and special donors.

ABOUT US
The foundation of Canal Winchester Human Services rests upon the participation of its member organizations. More than 30 churches, groups and organizations comprise our membership. As a group, the member organizations gather each March and September to be updated on the most recent activity of the organization and to participate in the planning of future endeavors.
Each member organization is entitled to two representatives. In addition, churches are also represented by one member of clergy. From these representatives, the governing board is determined. The Executive Board of Directors includes a director, assistant director, secretary, and treasurer, each whom hold positions that are voted upon annually every September. There are also five trustees who each serve three year terms on a rotating basis. As these positions expire they are also voted upon each September. No member organization may be represented in more than one board position.
Under the direction of the Board, Canal Winchester Human Services contracts the services of an administrative coordinator who oversees the daily operation of the organization and administers the various programs that are provided to the Canal Winchester community.
