80 COVENANT WAY  ~ CANAL WINCHESTER, OHIO  43110
SENIOR
TRANSPORTATION

Additional space is borrowed to store seasonal projects such as Tools for Schools and Adopt A Family, Senior Transportation vehicles are parked on landed owned by the City, gardens that are provided for the benefit of Food Pantry clients are located off-site as well, and the office of the administrator continues to be in a renovated bedroom.

From the beginning, the Executive Board has always acknowledged that renting vs. owning a facility is very expensive and could not be cost-effective for the long-term.  It is difficult to ask donors to fund operating expenses that have no long-term value such as rent, while you also need financial support to operate each program including the Food Pantry and Senior Transportation.  In addition, the Organization assumed additional responsibilities requiring more staff when the City stopped providing drivers and scheduling staff for senior transportation in the spring of 2013.   Simultaneously, food pantry clients now exceed 1,400 people, and expansion of programs and services such as the hunger initiative for low-income student are all additional reasons why Human Services would benefit from owning a facility that could house all Programs and projects at one location.

We continue to move forward with plans to build a permanent warehouse facility; the first in the Organization’s 60 year history.  United Church Homes will be leasing two acres of land located sitting between David’s Way and David Evangelical Lutheran Church, for the next 99 years, at a rate of $1.00 each year.  On December 27, 2016, site preparation began as dead trees were fallen and the property was cleared.  With construction complete, Canal Winchester Human Services will begin occupying its new home Autumn, 2017.

Our 5,000sf building (Click HERE to view an architectural Site Plan) will accommodate all of our Programs under one roof and will provide the opportunity to serve the Community more effectively than ever before. This project is being financed by generous donations.  Please consider being a part of “One Square Foot” by remembering someone you miss, honoring someone you love, or leaving your own legacy!  Each donation of at least $50 will be permanently recognized.  We invite you to review the Donor Levels below and be a part of our future!!

ONE SQUARE FOOT ...

Canal Winchester Human Services has never had a permanent home to call its own.  For decades, Programs were coordinated over the kitchen tables of Board members and administration.  Since 2012, the Organization has rented a facility to house the Food Pantry but the current needs of Human Services exceed the capacity that the rented warehouse can provide.
